I laughed out loud, I gasped out loud, I worried the whole darn time. Totally a page turner and highly recommended. Based in Vegas, Anna, the self-aware heroine (as in, Anna is very aware of her fatal flaw) has developed a habit for being the center of attention in high profile murder investigations. Coincidence? Either way it’s a problem for the more morally astute, on-again-off-again hero, Jack (a homicide detective with a Bourbon issue). Surrounded by a gamut of ingenious characters all unique and holding true to themselves, the tangled web of being in cahoots with the underbelly of Vegas, while being in love with a law enforcement agent, and trying to tamp down an alter ego that really likes to come out and play, Anna’s predicaments will keep readers engrossed and entertained. Read all 4 books in the series one after the other. Spent 27 years in Vegas and loved to gamble in the locals places. Felt like I was back there again winning and losing. Keep 'em coming.
As usual her book are a great read. Have read the three in this series. Looks like another one will come out.
Very fast read. Lots of drama between the two main characters. Kept me very entertained. Again not a by the book police procedural story. More just an entertaining read.
Enjoyed the read. Th characters have a great story and the twist Nd turns are interesting Nd keep you mind wondering what is next for Anna and Jack. Throw I. The other characters and you feel the life flow through each of them. Hope the story continues.
The long-anticipated (at least for this reader) third book in the Anna Dawson series begins with things in a state of calm neutrality for Anna and her extended family. As you might imagine, that doesn't last long. Soon Anna is embroiled in another murder investigation and combating her own personal demons in this highly enjoyable book.
After getting Book 1 for free, I was hooked! The author has a great writing style which really captured my imagination. The actual story is also exciting. More often than not, the first book in any series is good enough to make you buy the second, but then disappoints - that's just not the case with the Anna Dawson books. Each and every book is as thrilling as the previous, and I keep rooting for her relationship with Jack to FINALLY work out. I highly recommend these books.
As with her other Anna Dawson stories, Mara Jacobs draws in the reader from the first page then holds on until the last. Anna Dawson is a gambler, a risk taker, an addict. We watch her determination to overcome her addiction to gambling and then her downfall. It's like watching a train wreck. You see the train coming and know the destruction that will follow. Anna's remorse isn't enough to deter her. I'm looking forward to the next story, hoping for a happy ending. But with addicts, can there be a happy ending?
